Winner: Awarded 3rd in International Photo Competition!
This image has placed in the Top 3 of this years International Alverton Penzance Photographic Competition!
I'm delighted that my image of traditional stick fishing off a beach in Koggala, Sri Lanka has been awarded Bronze (third place) in the annual competition hosted by the Alverton Gallery, UK.
Images had been submitted from around the globe, including entrants from as far afield as South Africa, New Zealand, India, Australia and more. I am proud to have had my image selected, and look forward to seeing it hung on the walls of the Alverton Gallery later this month!
A little more about the image . . .
"Having already arrived later than I'd planned to the beach in Koggala via TukTuk, I was relieved to see that there were still fisherman perched on their platforms. The Sun was falling below the horizon and time was short, so I waded out fully clothed into the waves up to my chest - careful to protect my lens from the salty water (unfortunately forgetting about the phone in my pocket!).
The fisherman are very used to photographers taking their picture and were happy to hold position for me as I continued to capture my images well after the Sun had set.
The final image needed very little post-processing; the colours were spectacular straight from the camera."
Again, I'd like to just extend my gratitude to the judges of the competition and thank them for selecting my image as one of the top three! You can visit the gallery website by clicking here.
